Well that's Nanowrimo done and dusted! Not a whole novel, not even a nice one, but something to play with once I've got some of the other stuff out of the way. I can play with that tomorrow because I'm out on strike!!

I've never gone on strike before. It's an utterly pointless exercise because there are plenty of non-union people who have jumped at the chance to cover my hours. But I am a union member and the majority have voted to strike so I will too. The reason for it is that the government is fiddling round with our pensions so that we'll have to work much longer in order to get a much reduced pension. Personally, I reckon that the money to get our arses out of hock has to come from somewhere but I don't see why I should have to give up a bit of my little when there are people who get to keep all of their LOTS. HMG is welcome to larger contributions from me when they start taxing - ooh, maybe bankers bonuses? That might raise a few bob.

I won't be on strike tomorrow, as I no longer work in the public sector and I'm no longer in a union. However, if I did, and I was, I would!! If that makes sense. We keep being told we're all in this together - yeah right!

I won't be on strike (not sure if any doctors will be) but I'll be waving at the petitioners in friendly support as I enter.

I was annoyed this morning when I heard someone on the news complaining about 'public sector employees holding the country to ransom when the taxpayers are on their knees' because, hello, I'm a taxpayer too! I think we're all in it together unless we can afford REALLY good accountants.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. :D

As I said to the physios - I hope they get results. Just if doctors were to strike, people would die, and therefore it would be inethical for me to do so.

My mother is a college teacher who won't be striking because she says there's no reason why her students should suffer. I'm sure they'll be really pleased at having to come in when the other classes get the day off.

Yes, if it made a difference I would have gone in, but all that's happening is that I have to do the jobs tomorrow that I would have done today. As it is I'm fact checking for the guide book I'm writing for the museum so I'm sort of working, in an oblique kind of way.
