2012
Happy new one, folks. I hope 2012 brings you everything you could wish for in a properly guilt free fashion.
They say that the first minutes of the new year will be repeated throughout the year. I spent them eating Terry's chocolate orange, reading Pterry and cuddling a terrified and rather poorly dog who HATES fireworks. Dogs are such dustbins. I think he's stolen and eaten something that has disagreed with him but seems a bit more cheerful today. He has been to the top of Pen y Fal this morning anyway. Yesterday he didn't even want to go outside.
My garden is weird. I have the first snowdrop and the last white rose in bloom a few yards apart just by the back door.

My granny used to say that too! I usually try to make sure I'm kissing someone ;) This year though I had a very sleepy five year old curled up in my lap!

That flower thing is a very apt and typical description of what this winter has been like so far.
I spent the first minutes of the New Year drinking champagne with the Nazgul and the Little Lady (who had alcohol-free pale fizzy), and then we went nordic-walking through the celebrating and firework-starting crowds on our usual round, and lots of tipsy people staaaaared and went 'Oh, they are nordic walking!' as they seemed to be in a Captain Obvious state of inebriation.
Sports, the company of my favourite ladies, good things to drink, and occasional fireworks? Sounds good.

I guess I'm spending 2012 asleep, because I was in bed at midnight and barely awake when the clock struck!

They go up in the dark and arrive on the top, if they get it right, just before sunrise. One can, apparently, see five counties from the top but it's usually a bit of the misty side.
I stay in bed then put the bacon on just in time for them to get home.

I was trying not to fall asleep while also trying to write and/or read. ::amused:: This does not bode well, somehow....
