Proper British weather today. Sky like a dishcloth when I got up (which was hard as I was enjoying reading 'Nightwatch' by Terry Pratchett) then it rained while I was driving Jenny over to my Mum's. We went a rather complicated way becuse I spotted a route I'd never used before and found a nice single track road all the way to Hay on Wye via Michaelchurch Escley. It had grass growing up the middle for some of the way and at one ppoint we had to thread through the cows in a farm yard but it was a nice road, very winding. We saw a stoat bounding along the road like a big range maggot, it's black-tipped tail held up like a flag pole. When we entered Hay it was from an entirely new angle (as the actress said to the bishop) bringing me out right in amongst all the bookshops! I'll have to remember that way. (For anyone who reads this who is unfamiliar with the expensive delights of Hay on Wye, it is a small border town with a dozen pubs a little supermarket and about a million bookshops. You can buy anything from secondhand modern paperback fiction to ancient tomes all covered with dust and cobwebs - grimoires and incunabulae, as well I shouldn't wonder!)
The idea behind going to Mum's house was to clean out her garden pond but five minutes into the job there was a cloudburst so we packed it in - I can only take so much water at a time.
I have massive amounts of betaing to do! Shouldn't be bothering with this really. Cas is sending more on Monday so I must get on with Anise and Marianne's fics! I also want to know what's happened to Mattress 2. One beta sent back a short 'impression', which was fine but the other seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth - Casey, if you are out there, are you still alive?
Must post Writer's Block this week! Must do more Towers of Sadness! Must finish the test piece of Will/Francis slashiness that Kate and I are competing with (how far to go? how far to go? that is the question). Should make a start on Dogs of War before OotP comes out and everything goes pear-shaped!
You know, I haven't done any drawing since before Easter, apart from a few little sketches. Ron Tiner, here I come.
