It's that week where, with a gnashing of teeth, Himself goes back to school. He's particularly grrrrry because he's back with the tinies and has to learn which are the ones to nurture and which are the ones to contain AND they have another inspection in November. However, this is probably his LAST year group. By the time they have taken their exams and departed he'll be an age to retire. Fingers crossed anyway.

Jen's gone back too so my days are punctuated again by panic stricken dashes in the car from house to railway station. This is her final year in what I think across the pond is called high school so vital if she wants a university place. Who knows - this year she might do some work!!

We are getting to the end of our Eric Gill exhibition and while I won't miss his stuff much David Jones' work has grown on me and I just adore Edgar Holloway's etchings and watercolours. Of course this has the knock on effect of making me want to try etching. I think we've still got the copper foil and acid somewhere.

Speaking of what passes for art, here are two more bits of Scythian-Greek silliness in comic strip form:

Some bits are missing due to a moron of a customer at work lunging over my desk and scribbling on the drawing to test a pen. Some people, eh?

Any how - here's part five and part six. Pats 7 and 8 being cleaned of blue biro. Incidentally, apologies for the varying quality and style. Some of the time I can concentrate a little [not enough to write sadly] so can get a bit ambitious, but a lot of the time I'm dashing stuff off quickly. I'll have to tart those up later.

Another insane day at work with people dragging Gill, Holloway and Jones related stock out of the box before I'd had a chance to put it through the till! It calmed down a little bit after lunch though so I got some more sketches done for the cartoon I mentioned here. I'm doing guys now, and need to work on them more. But here's part 3 and part 4.

Sheer madness at work this week with masses of people coming into the museum to see the Eric Gill exhibition. You can say what you like about him as a man - incest, paedophilia, bestiality all freely admitted to in his diaries - but he seems to be a very popular artist.

This means I can't write during the quiet times, because there aren't any. As usual when on edge, I've reset to default and if I can't write my stories at least I can draw them. So below are the first couple of pages of a graphic novel about Atei and Anatolios. WARNING - this is NOT historical from the point of view that I'm making no attempt whatsoever to capture the authentic flavour of Ancient Greek or Scythian conversation. They are just guys and I don't think guys have changed that much in the past 2300 years.

I'm posting it because I'm absurdly pleased with my eagles. Whether I'll be able to do a similar job of the fellas I don't know. Fingers crossed.
