Jeff Nuttall has died. This is sad. To most people locally he was an elderly fat man who fancied himself as a poet and artist. I did not much care for either his poetry or his art, personally, it just wasn't to my taste. But he was so much more than that. He was also the author of several seminal works of the 1960s including 'Bomb Culture' and 'Performance Art' both of which are much sought after by Drama students and a string of other works through the sixties and right up to the millenium.
Now I wouldn't bother to mention any of this because it's of fairly local interest but the guy was also an actor of some note, playing 'character' roles in all kinds of things including a villain in a Bond film and Friar Tuck in the Patrick Bergin/Uma Thurman version of "Robin Hood".
He'll be missed - there aren't enough characters about these days.

:( Pity. I note also he was in 'Plunkett and McLane' a much maligned, but enjoyable movie.
