Apr. 26th, 2004 09:43 pmBeen Ill! No honest. Sick as a parrot, actually. And still can't write properly because the computer is where the TV PS2 and all that jazz is. Desperate! In addition the computer at work is no longer available for use during quiet moments so I am properly stymied. Am writing on paper instead.
what's happened/
One night just after Easter I was too ill to go to bed - couldn't breathe if I lay down - so I stayed up and heard a little tap on the door. When I went to it there was a 7 foot tall robot made of cardboard on my doorstep.
A couple of nights later we received a ransom note - beautifully made from words cut from a magazine and taped to a piece of cardboard, promising 200 'gold shinies' for the return of the robot. We put it back outside. It disappeared. Later, very much later - about 1 a.m. -there was another tap on the door and when I opened it the whole front garden shone gold. There were chocolate coins in gold foil, eggs, palstic cowboys and indians, cardboard shaped, biscuits - all wrapped ot painted in gold. There were 200 of them!
Now, I know who did this delightful thing and am wracking my brains to think of a graceful way to reply. any suggestions very welcome but it must be postable since they are both back in university now.
Today I went on an assertiveness course. I don't really think I needed it. However, it will come in useful - I'll write a fic about it - if I ever get a working laptop again!

Date: 2004-04-27 03:48 am (UTC)How about the computer person who refurbishes old laptops... nothing there?
As for the people with the cardboard robot.... that's going to require inspiration. Will give it some thought.
Glad you're better.
