Oh I haven't updated for ages and ages! Been far to distracted

(Note to self - never start playing a time consuming RPG when at emotional and physical low ebb because you may find it hard to get out of when back in your right mind).

I still have no laptop = misery. However I have piles of paper and may one day be able to get the words off the paper and onto a computer somewhere. The Laptop fund was growing nicely but then my washing machine broke down and the family - most unfairly - feel that clean underwear should take precedence over my urge to live in worlds of my own construction.

I got sent on a first aid course last week and was humiliated because I couldn't inflate the dummy properly because my mouth was too small to fit over its mouth. Since I had gone on the course with my colleages Steve and Paul and Alastair you can imagine some of the comments. I was also embarrassed at having to pull up my jeans leg so Alastair could bandage my calf when I had shaved my legs for - lord knows how long. Alastair, bless the boy, made me feel better though by pointing out that he hadn't shaved his either.

metallumai has pointed out to me that Mr President Bush habitually refers to 'merkins' as in 'my fellow merkins'. what a joy! I wonder if he knows what a 'merkin' is??!

Next week I have a re-enactment group coming to live in the castle. There will be armour and cannon and young men with long legs and broad shoulders and longbows. This almost compensates me for having to work 17th May to 27th may inclusive without a day off

I'm taking the kids to see Van Helsing this weekend - I've heard it stinks but what the heck. Hugh Jackman in a loin cloth has to be worth a look.

Not long now until PoA comes out. It's showing from may 31st but I'm waiting until the 4th June to see it with casfic so I'll have company and someone to grumble to. Hey, Cas, I promise we'll have a door on your bedroom before you arrive!

Hi Sally! Nice to hear from you! Doors on bedrooms-- you really know how to treat a guest! Cas should be grateful.

Also, your selfish family might consider that the rest of us are fairly fond of your imaginary worlds as well.... ANYONE can have clean underwear. Hmmmph.

This weekend I will buy the next Dunnett book-- yay. And then I'll have it to read at lunch for a while and won't have to think about the disgusting children for that extra little time. :)Wish someone would send ME off on a first-aid course.

Yup I could see where the snide comments would have been said *shakes head* males... what do you expect. Kind of like Bush's intelligence. He probably thinks 'merkins' are some aboriginal tribe in southeast greenland whose gourmet specialty is fried penguins and mouldy cabbage. Wait, I don't think he could be that creative either. I haven't seen Van Helsing yet, but it better be worth seeing because I've only been waiting for it for a year. :P My friend went to see it and she liked it, although the Hugh-in-a-loincloth factor probably added a lot of... scenic pleasure. Well Mum I have to go but I'll talk to you later okies?

Um - well... a merkin is an item used in the theatre so that a lady may appear on stage apparently naked but without actually being so. The merkin is in effect a "bush wig", if you know what I mean. Fun isn't it?

I've been a bit like Achilles and sulking in my tent because I can't work the way i'd like to - and sometimes if one is only going to grumble it's best to say nothing at all.

So instead I have been RPing - probably the most bizarre thing a sensible middle-aged woman can do and have foisted off the most dreadful quasi-canonical Gary-Stu character on my fellow players who, luckily, seem to be amused by him. Or maybe it's his horns?

When I replace my dead laptop with a live one that I can take off into the quiet of the kitchen I'll be a bit more sociable and will post comments in my friends journals rather than just reading them.
