Am I the only one wibbling slightly at the news that a new series of Hitchhikers Guide starts on Radio 4 on Tuesday evening?

I heard the very first episode back in 1978 - and believe me the radio is the place to enjoy it. The pictures are better for a start. I was riveted to it - every single episode!

I know that Douglas Adams had a hand in these scripts and appears in the series - somehow - but I just hope they do the original justice. And I hope they bring back Slartibartfast - he was my favourite.

We're putting up a new exhibition this week about the history of the parish church - thanks and kudos to [livejournal.com profile] gonzothegreat for doing all the preparatory work. Yesterday the boss threw a massive wobbly because the conservator who has been doing some work for us said she was unable to deliver a large item she has been - um - conserving. The conversation got quite heated for a while and I nearly copped a drive to Chepstow on Monday to collect the thing - a highly decorative plaster angel. I'd have quite enjoyed driving back with that. I made the trip once with a six foot teddy bear in my back seat - he wouldn't fit in the front, his behind kept getting on the gear stick. Anyway, we are now having the item unconserved in all it's tatty glory so we can have the swanky private viewing on Monday night. I have to 'attend' to be a waitress for the evening *sigh*.

I also have to work this weekend - just 2 hours over the lunchtimes of each day so the museum can remain open between 1 and 2 and both my colleagues can have their lunch hours. Four hours isn't much but working 12.30 to 2.30 effectively buggers up both days. The reason is the Food Festival - a really big bash held every year in September. The castle grounds in one of the venues. We have the CamRA tent!! (Campaign for Real Ale for those not in the know.) This year there are 24 different ales at two quid a pint and I'm planning on sampling a fair few a half at a time.

On the downside, the festival attracts all kinds of foodie celebrities who faff around the place getting themselves noticed. I heard yesterday that Gordon Ramsey, he of the Snapelike charm and grace, went into one of the local eating places, ordered five meals for himself and his entourage, drank endless cups of tea then left without paying. Bastard! I am so glad that I recently wrote about Gordon and Ramsey, two homosexual restauranteurs. I can now have something horrible happen to them in the story with a clear conscience!

Okay, I'm confused... Something horrible is going to happen to the homosexuals?

Hiya!

Call the cops. People should always pay, in restaurants. Sorry about the weekend; we are having much the same sort of thing: 2 to 4 Sunday, I have to be at our totally useless school Open House-- as if any parent can't just walk into the school any time they like....

By all means, do something wicked to Gordon and Ramsay, in secret revenge-- but not too horrible; reserve that for the characters you like. :D

Ok - case of too much information! Gordon and Ramsey in the fic are a nice couple of lads very much in love. I chose the names in my usual utterly random fashion. It will probably become necessary at some point to torch the restaurant. they were going to emerged singed and smokeblackened but otherwise unscathed - now I feel justified in letting them not etc. Their sexual orientation is immaterial.

Whaha?

She STILL wasn't done? Good greif, she's only had the blessed thing for the better part of three years and known we were going to use it for just over three months!

But, I'm sure you'll look smashing in a cocktail dress. Or at least Mr. Essayel will think so. ;) And rest assured that Gordon Ramsey is sitting next to the Zagats on my celeb death plane. >:)

...and it is a coincidence that there is some asshole named Gordon Ramsey, right? He's the one you don't like?

Well at the time(some months ago) I was thinking of restaurants and needed a name for two people and his popped into mind because he owns several restaurants and his name splits neatly into two forenames. At the time I thought he was a chef - now I know he's an asshole too. Sheer coincidence.

Anyway, how are you? Did everything go all right?

Okay, I get it.

And everything went better than imagined. I need a few more days to write about it...

{{{HUGS}}}

And it is finding its way into a story...
