essayelOk - today and yesterday was the renowned Abergavenny Food Festival.
Well, it's renowned in Wales - or bits of Wales and even a few of the 'foodier' bits of England.
I had a bit of a look around today - not that I am a foodie, beans on toast is about as much as I can be arsed to cook these days - and there was some interesting stuff there.
There was a yurt - I'd never been in a yurt before - and a person making wonderful windmills and chimes and bubble blowers out of bits of metal and tins and things. There was also the Celtic Liquer Company's tent selling things made from spirits and fruit and the beer tent where I tried one of the Spinning Dog Brewery's ales called "Chase your Tail". Appropriate. I'd have liked to try a couple of the others as well but I was walking home so the 'Bull Mastiff' etc will have to wait for next year.
I'm quite astonished at the interest generated in food - yeah, I know we all have to eat but some of this was incredibly precious.However, Paul and Jen enjoyed themselves with the free samples and I quite enjoyed the colours - the heaps of vegetables, spices, olives - the bottles of different coloured wines and liquers.
So, if you're near Abergavenny next September, come to the Food Festival and stuff yourself silly.
