Okay, I know spelling and punctuation and grammar are important and that the people who know how and when to use a semi-colon consider themselves the elite and are perfectly justified in looking down on those who might mistakenly use a comma instead BUT I don't relish being told I should be sacked because someone else failed to spot that they had mis-treated an apostrophe in one of our display boards until it was too late to do anything about it. The customer may have been right - yes it wasn't correct where it was - but there was no need to be offensive.

I blame Lynne Truss - her and her sodding book. From now on, out of sheer bloody-mindedness, I'll take a confetti approach to apostrophes and use them wi'th ga'y aban'do'n!!

Which I found very funny as in Finnish, there's the slang term 'pilkun nussiminen', literally 'fucking commas' for that kind of behaviour...
