No never. I've never known anyone who wore green, other than accidentally, on St P's day. Even the Irish people I know don't. As for green beer ... absolutely not.

Date: 2009-03-18 08:29 am (UTC)However, as in so many other things, I'm sure we'll follow the lead of the US and half of the Uk will become once a year Irishmen. I have an Irish great grandmother! But I've never felt that gave me the right to consider myself one of St P's little chickens.

Then again I'm a sucker for any reason to party. We are so down in the daily grind that any reason to party peacefully is a good one.
We need a good August Saint to celebrate. That month is kinda dead.

Date: 2009-03-19 12:21 am (UTC)On Sunday we were down at Disneyland and they had green Mickey Mouse Ears with 'leprechaun' hats on them -- scary!
Of course here in LA Cinco de Mayo is a very big deal -- and I understand that it's not such a big thing in Mexico itself, but its been celebrated in the US since the one year anniversary of the battle fought that day.
