Frank's Roman book came out today and - and he used one of my paintings for the back cover and 8 others inside. *bounces* We're going to talk about doing one about the Normans!
Thanks. The publisher is a tiny local one so I doubt that it will be very available. One of the pictures from it is here (http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu17/Straight_Grain/26barrackssmall.jpg) though.
Thanks bunches. Here's (http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu17/Straight_Grain/26barrackssmall.jpg) one of the pictures. The book is only available locally due to limited interest.

Thanks. I don't think it'll be on general release - just locally because it's just about the Roman presence in Abergavenny. I'm hoping I'll get to do a better job on the next one.
Thanks for commenting. If you're talking about the picture linked above, they are Roman auxiliary cavalrymen towards the end of the first century AD. The standards of clean shavenness in auxiliary units was lower than for the legions, and especially for frontliners as they would have been here at that time. The picture isn't original though - it's 'after' Angus MacBride and if anyone gets the details right he does! I love his work - his death is a huge loss to the historical illustration pool.
