Whoohoo, I got a new book!!! Kat sent me a copy of The Lymond Poetry through the post and it's not out til next month!!! Now I can sing l'homme arme without having to make up the words! The woman is a star and I need to find something extremely nice that I can do for her...hmmm...short of gift wrapping Lymond and sending him to her oiled and scented I can't think of anything she might like. I'll give it some thought.
Spent yesterday at the Science Museum's large object storage facility in Swindon. It was just like that scene at the end of Indiana Jones. Floor to very high ceiling racking, rack after rack and all manner of treasure either loose or dust-sheeted or in crates and boxes. There were also mannequins, rather macabre, standing silently amongst all the objects with dust on their clothes and faces. Seeing them out of the corner of your eye when you turn a corner gives you a start. We were depositing the figurehead of the Foudroyant in storage there - crikey that's an impressive bit of kit. It's spent the last four years being restored at Chatham. About six feet high and now stark white, the head and torso of a bearded man. I kept thinking of Robin Hobbs Live Ships books!
I've been reading Cas's non HP fiction - flaming brilliant. I must plug them on OS even if she doesn't want to post them there.
