Petitions that work? Astonishing.
Sep. 11th, 2009 08:14 amA few weeks ago I mentioned an online petition to ask the PM to issue a governmental apology for the treatment of Alan Turing and this morning it appears that one has been issued. After only 30,000 signatures too! This is heartening and good to see, but then Turing was a 'celebrity' for his work on cryptography and in laying the foundations of modern IT. It would be nice if we could get some kind of similar acknowledgement for the many many other individuals - milkmen, bank clerks, builders, soldiers, sailors and airmen, schoolteachers - who were treated in a similar fashion but haven't got Wikipedia pages.
