Things about Today

1. Outside my window... vague shapes - i still haven't taken down the bubble wrap double glazing from the winter.
2. I am hearing ... war film on TV, door's shut so i can only hear the bangs.
3. I am thinking... about doing this meme, duh.
4. I am physically feeling... podgy. I'm sat awkwardly and everything has settled in a blob.
5. I am emotionally feeling... sad, because son has gone back to Holyhead, sorry Himself has to go back to work tomorrow, glad it's only for 6 weeks, worried that daughter won't pass her A levels.... the list goes on and on.
6. I am thankful for..my sense of humour.
7. I am happy about... historiclols!
8. I am totally enjoying... the aftertaste of dinner
9. I am concerned about... daughter's inability to take responsibility for anything
10. I am wondering... if we can finish any of the many things that get started before we start something else.
11. I wish... himself could retire
12. The personal art I'm working on is... candid sketches of some of the characters in MM
13. I'm currently obsessing on... world building
14. A favorite food is... chocolate, but the coq au vin I just cooked and ate was pretty damn good.
15. Something new is ... the vegetarian cook book given to me by a smiley monk from Swansea.
16. I am wearing... the world's stripiest sweater
17. I am going... nowhere in particular
18. I need to... stop doing bloody memes and concentrate on writing
19. I am reading... Stephen Pressfield
20. I am hoping that... I can get my Language of Flowers story finished, betaed and edited before the end of the year.
21. People/things that brightened my day...having my son home and my daughter being cheerful for once.
22. An idea/goal... 1720, ex-naval lieutenant Kit Maxwell, cashiered after a 'disagreement' with a superior officer, takes a post as secretary to the governor of South Carolina but his ship is overcome by pirates and Kit, who had joined the crew to try and fend them off, is offered the opportunity to jump ship and go pirating. He does, intending to obtain information to send to Woodes Rogers, but .... well that'd be telling.
23. On my desk I have...a laptop, mug, vegetarian cookbook, tabby cat, pile of ironing, drawing of MM people.
24. One of my favorite things today is... the hedgerow full of pink wild roses and the fields full of gypsy vanner mares and their brand new foals.
25. Here is a photo I'd like to show.. I don't take good photos but here's a picture I like -

The wild roses and the horses sound lovely - and so does the coq au vin. You have made me hungry now.

Good luck with the writing!

Oh, the horses are lovely. The dad is in the field across the road - huge and black and white - and his sons and daughters are all combinations of white with black, brown, chestnut, fawn and a few whole coloured ones as well.

Such looooooooooooooooooooong legs!

Your #9 I can relate to, though I'm sure there is an age gap between daughters since mine is only 10 going on 23 in attitude.

*hugs* Hope things get better for you soon hun.

When are the A-level tests? Or when do the results come in? It feels funny for me to worry about things like that when schools in Finland have already ended for the spring semester altogether - always at the end of May or beginning of June.

Also, I really think you should share these sketches of MM people with us. :D

I admit I chuckled out loud to that picture. xD

A-levels start mid May and go on till the end of June/beginning of July. They get their results towards the end of August, which leaves them about 3 weeks to get ready for university or try to find something else to do if they didn't do well enough to get a place anywhere. A level takers do their exams then just don't go back to school - which is why we don't have those graduation things they have in America. We save that up for university leavers who have achieved degrees. Our school term/semester finishes about July 20th so teachers and non-exam kids have a way to go yet.

'Bitter and corpulent Leia' is a treat isn't she? My drawings are far more cartoony, sadly. I haven't got any recent ones scanned in and the old ones aren't interesting being mostly of pups who have left.

I think it's good to make a list like this now and then, and if the positive outweighs the negative and you can add a sense of humor...all the better! :)
You know, i've never heard anyone use the word "stripiest". This sounds like a very cheery sweater!
Have you really a view of Gypsy Vanner horses and foals? How wonderful. They're quite beautiful.

I have to ask, what are MM people?

"Stripiest" in this case means 27 different colours of wool hand-knitted by Tibetan ladies! It comes down almost to my knees.

The horses are a couple of fields up from where I live and I saw them and the roses when i walked the dog. But the white patches mean they can be seen from a long way away, in fact *looks out of window* I can just see them from my table up in the castle keep.

MM, or Morningstar Manor, is a role-playing game that we started in December 2004. It's been like a long running soap opera with a supernatural twist and has been an indecent amount of fun. Occasionally I draw cartoons of the people in it.
