Jen passed her A levels, so she's off to Aberystwyth at the end of September.

I'm delighted for her and am glad that while she'll be far enough away to feel grown up, she's close enough to access in case of emergency.

Now himself and I will have to get used to each others company again for the first time in 23 years. We have taken very different paths over the years and, despite me being ace at filling in the other half of a conversation about fly fishing/tying, model ship building, antique furniture, the philosophy of archery, making/playing classical guitars etc etc etc, we no longer have any fun common interests other than the welfare of the kids. This is going to be ... interesting.

But for now Jen's doing the happy dance and I have to go to work.

Congratulations to Jen and *hugs* to you. Remember, we were given patios for a purpose. *g*

Thanks, I'll pass the congratulations on.

As soon as I can get it organised I'll be able to have my much missed 'office' back. It's full of boxes at the moment. The patio is sort of neutral ground, so yeah, it's a nice place to sit and imbibe a little.

Yeah, it's not as though either of us are short of things to do. I might make more effort to go and eat in his company - I'll be watching a LOT of tv about DIY and fishing - but I'll still be able to write when he beetles off to tie flies or make his ships, bows or furniture.

That's great news! And it has to be a great relief too.

I think you'll have a good chance in getting used to each others' company, like you said, because at least you recognize what the obstacle is.

I should imagine we'll carry on pretty much as usual. I can hear him upstairs now tapping away and a model of the HMS Beagle. He's happy and doesn't need my help for that.

How's the new apartment/job combo? Everything going well?

Very well, finally! I'm getting back to routine of life as usual, so everything is normalizing and I should have time and patience for the Manor as well, among other things. :)

I think you'll do fine. You and Himself are both intelligent, resourceful people; you both like each other, you both respect and approve of each other's interests. It's perfectly OK to sit companionably together while one of you writes and the other one sands a bow or ties flies. I think Eric might be amused if I suddenly expressed a desire to learn how to clean a carburetor....

Yes and I am happy - very happy - for Paul to make 200 working running blocks the size of rice grains for his rigging but feel no real need to develop the skill myself.

I'm wibbling a bit about how Jen will cope with things like adequate diets, but she's only 2 hours away. I can go force feed her OJ if she gets scurvy.

Congrats to Jen :) What's she studying?

Maybe you could both start a new hobby together?

Theatre Studies. She went to the same youth theatre group as "Ianto Jones" and they bring them on well. She's hoping to either act or write for film/tv.

It would be nice to resume some old hobbies actually. We have LOADS.

Passing the congrats on when she gets back from the celebration party. Thanks *hugs*

Congratulations to her, and you too! I've gotten to like the empty nest
thing a lot, but it took time to get used to.

Thanks, I'll pass it on.

An empty nest might be cool I think that kids moving on shows you've done your job right. We can just look after each other for a while.
