Word Count Day 15
Nov. 15th, 2010 10:17 pmI've had a slow day today, partly due to incautious use of Baileys in my coffee and partly due to having wandered off the point again so not being particularly sure of what I'm doing. I've been ambushed by unexpected plot points that may or may not be necessary. Ah, well, at this point all that matters is getting the words down, but it's a lot more satisfying to feel what I'm doing is contributing to the whole.
Hey, you know how in Florida Warner Bros has built Harry Potter World? Which looks like this? Well I saw in Museums and Heritage Online today that we in the UK are going to have a Harry Potter museum that will look like this:

Somehow I'm failing to be excited at the prospect.
Anyhow, here's a
Kit glared at Wigram who grinned. “You want to hit me again,” he said, pushing his red face close to Kit’s. “Only this time you know if you do the old man will put us ashore with a pistol apiece and you’re not sure you could kill in cold blood but you’re pretty damn certain that I could.”
His voice had risen and he was plainly working himself up into a fighting rage. Next would come a push – all in fun, of course – and if Kit retaliated that would be cause enough for the duel Wigram wanted.
Kit looked at the flecks of spittle that had landed on his sleeve and said, “This is the captain’s shirt. He won’t thank you for gobbing over it.”
“Oh the captain’s shirt, is it,” Wigram sniggered. “Oh, I’m sorry, sir, I’m sure. I didn’t know you’d been promoted – to his bum boy.”
Kit was aware that his knuckles were white as his hands gripped the tiller. He held on tight and didn’t respond as Wigram walked away but a little later when O’Neill approached with his usual grin, he took one look at Kit’s face and said, “Carry on, Mr Penrose,” and went to talk to someone else.
Kit regretted that, because he liked O’Neill as much as he liked Davy, but he had realised that he couldn’t be a willing part of the crew AND keep faith with himself.
When Valliere came to relieve him it was with a grave nod. “Thank you, Val,” Kit said and went to find something to eat, feeling very alone.
And that's the bit that I have JUST this minute written so we're all right up to date.
