...would be as butch.

I've just found a comic called 'Knight and Squire' which is plainly a rip-off of Batman and Robin, is set in the UK and has lots of deeply silly British humour in it.

Here's a sample.

I thought the final panel very suitable for some of the sports lovers on my flist.

I think I'll have to get this when it's published as a book.

It's not merely a ripoff. The heroes are the actual British version of Batman, and allies as well. This comic, though, is clearly a lot more tongue in cheek that anything we see with the guy in Gotham.

The author on this is Paul Cornell, who also gave us "Father's Day" on Dr Who during Nine's year.

So that's why the name was familiar. I really liked that episode.

I like the artwork in this very much :) and the reference to Benny Hill's "Ernie" made me LOL.

As sdelmonte said, it's not a ripoff. And Paul is a) a fantastic writer, and b) the loveliest man in science fiction and fantasy.

Oh, and c) he gave me my first and only literary award.

I'm waiting for the collection, but I am *aching* to read it. The cricket 11 who only commit crimes in Commonwealth countries (they never took off in America)? Twunter (Paul sniggered like a small child when showing those panels to people)?

Paul has stated that his aim with Knight and Squire is to annoy the DC encyclopedia people like mad - he's created about 100 new characters already!

Having read the DC Encyclopedia, and found countless grammatical and spelling errors (as well as mistakes in the entries), I can support Paul fully.

Oh it's dreamy! I love the dialogue and I really like the art work too. Have definitely put it on my 'to get' list.

I remember your award :D I just didn't remember who gave it to you. Her's hoping for another one in 2011.
