My son has just called me - he's going to have his haircut!!

Ahem - this is six years worth of gorgeous blond hair. I can't remember what he looked like with it short!

I don't know about in GB, but in the USA there is an organization called Locks of Love that takes donated hair and makes it into wigs for kids doing medical things that a wig would help make not so awful.

Locks of Love asks that the hair be in a braided ponytail/swag, min of 10 inches long. When I donated mine I had the cutter-person do a bunch of small tails so the kids could get the maximum length, then rubberbanded the whole shebang together into one big ponytail.

As long as he's not using it any more, perhaps he should look into donating it?

Tell him to be ready to have a headache for about three days.

I didn't even think about it, but the follicles are used to the weight of each hair on them, and if that weight is suddenly only about 1/10 of what they are used to, they reward you with editorial comments. You'd think they'd be happy to not be so pulled upon, but they aren't.
