Oooops.

Mum once left her car keys on top of the car when she went on a coach with the Guides. They were still there four hours later when my brother went to investigate.

There are days aren't there? and then there are DAYS. So glad the keys were still there and hopefully all the house contents as well?

I've done it myself, the panic that you'll open up and find nothing left is horrible, but, the relief when it's all there is indescribable, and it does remind you sometimes to take the keys with you next time!
