12 hours giving birth. It was v. v. boring until it got scary. The bastards took my book away!

Talking of scary, my dog just got beaten up by a ginormous chocolate brown labrador, not on the lead, whose pretty blonde owner bounced around squeaking and flailing. Poor Sizz got pushed off his feet, into the hedge, rolled along the ground, bitten in half a dozen places and, as far as I could see, did nothing apart from try and get away. So damned annoying. As soon as I could get a chance I picked the lab up by the harness, so it was on its back paws and even then Sizz just ran away, poor dab. The lab's owner gave me a cheesy grin and said "sowwy", I gave her the thousand yard stare. I hate being blonde :(

I need to write something violent to work off some rage. Instead I have to go to work. >:(

12 hours? Pfft. My eldest: my first contraction 7am Saturday morning. She was born 11.00am Tuesday...

Poor Sizz. :(

Oh dear lord in Heaven! I bet that got a bit tedious too.

This happened to me and my little dog many years ago. It makes you homicidal doesn't it? How's Sizz now?

Home from work now and he's bounced at me and demanded to be fed. Patted him on all the bits that were damp this morning and he's not wincing so I'm assuming that he was just slobbered on.

Tomorrow when I walk him I'll take a stick and if that illy woman still hasn't got her dog on a lead I'll whack her with it as well. :D she'll get the message.

Oh dear, your poor dog! I hope he is more or less fine again now.

Yes, he's fine. But I bet he'll woof next time he sees that labrador.

Instead of staring, you should have got her name and phone number, in case of future vet bills.

I know where she lives and where she works. Benefits of living in a small place. But Sizz is fine and in very good humour and tomorrow I'll take a stick on our walk and if her dog still isn't on the lead I'll whack HER with it. She'll get the message.

If that happens again, you have all the right in the world to come down on her like a ton of bricks!

No hesitation. I would hope she is sensible enough to realise that her pooch needs to be on a leash. Otherwise tomorrow will be interesting. I'm going to carry a stick.

I had something similar when I had a dog. He (collie terrier mix) got grabbed by two deerhounds as we followed a public footpath through someone's grounds. Their owner expressed surprise that anyone would be out walking at that time of day. My dog was fine, but it was terrifying for both of us (he was on an extending lead too, which might actually have helped us since he couldn't run away fast enough to really set them off).

Ouch. Poor dog! Yes, running would have been a bad move.

Their owner expressed surprise that anyone would be out walking at that time of day. Silly person. Trying to shift the blame with that excuse just doesn't wash.

He wasn't a happy terrier that day, although they managed not to break the skin anywhere I could see. Back when I first had him he used to out run, or at least outwit, the bit-of-string dogs belonging to the local Big Issue sellers and the travellers visiting for fire festivals, so long as none of them were bright enough to tag-team him from both sides.

I'd miss having a dog if I didn't have a pony that takes me for walks and a cat that runs down the path to greet me every evening.

If it were my dog I'd call the police and report the attack. Not the dog's fault, but the human is a moron. My lab-mix is big and powerful (and still a puppy, so most of his posturing is hot air) but that's what no-pull harnesses are for. NO EXCUSE for that.

This thing had one of those harnesses on. Obviously, madam felt it unkind to curb her poor puppy's freedom.

Luckily my dog wasn't bitten badly enough to draw blood. He has a lot of thick fur and loose skin and when I got home last night I could handle all the bits that had had dog slobber on them without him wincing. But that means the police wouldn't take it seriously. Our local bunch are lazy toads - they would probably say they reserve their energy to fight actual crimes. When my cats were poisoned they didn't want to know.

Oh, lovely.

But the point in filing a complaint is that it's on record, and you can TELL the ninny that -- they would be more likely to investigate a second offense by the same dog.

If that gal doesn't wake up, she's going to find her dog confiscated and put down when it bites a kid. That happened to a neighbor of ours back in Ohio--wouldn't train the dog, wouldn't neuter it .... a 4-year-old wound up in the ER with stitches in her face, and they wound up with a dead dog.

I wish I was ftf with that woman--she's going to get her dog killed and she'll blame someone else.
