Piiiiiiraaaaaaates!
May. 13th, 2011 09:16 amPosting today to show off my tiny pirate header thing sent to me by
bitchy_brat. Thanks babes.
I've spent the past week putting up the pirate exhibition - with a LOT of help. At one point there was the curator, a conservator and 2 custodians milling around so I went and did some paperwork while they did their thing and the other custodian and I finished it off yesterday.
There's a big difference between trying to work with a manager and working with an equal. A manager will say "Where do you want this? Are you sure you want it there? Wouldn't it look better here? I think it looks better here." Because they are a manager they can't HELP but manage and get very antsy if they are contradicted. With my equal I squabble gently, fall about laughing, we each concede defeat if the other makes sense and the job gets done no more slowly but with good humour instead of tense edgy angstiness. That's a pity but, sadly, the way the cookie crumbles with personalities.
Anyhow!!! I have pictures which I will upload and post once I've taken mum shopping. Also handling cutlasses and cats of nine tails and stuff means my pirates are back in my mind and I amused
celticangel76 last night by writing very mild pirate smut and emailing it to her a sentence at a time to see her through a boring meeting. Which reminds me - I left them in mid-grapple. Someone's bound to have cramp by now.

Date: 2011-05-13 10:33 am (UTC)In the process of booking two museum visits for the Young Persons. The science museum can't fit them in until next term so I'm going to try and organise a trip to our little local museum for this term.

Date: 2011-05-13 09:32 pm (UTC)We've got a new system for schools visits. We have big plastic boxes filled with various fun things to play with - like a selection of medieval and Tudor hats to try on or a pile of armour - and put them out in the castle grounds so the kids can 'discover' them. So far it seems to be working quite well.
