Just had a phone call from other half[or other seven sixteenths because I weigh more than he does now] to say that despite having left home at 7.15 this morning, he and his car and his car pool passengers plus a hell of a lot of other people are all stuck in snow drifts on the Head of the Valley Road. Obviouly it's the wrong sort of snow for the snow ploughs and gritters to get out. Don't you just love the British weather?

Actually it was a bit of a shock to me because I hadn't opened the curtains yet. Best place to be on a morning like this is snugged up in the warm so I'm going to go and huddle up to a nice cosy computer and a red hot imagination :D

Much as I love where I live, I must admit that today we have the kind of weather that has made the UK a joke amongst residents of countries that are unlucky enough to have a climate. Okay, who am I fooling? It would be nice to be able to plan out door events at the museum without having to have a back up plan if it, for instance, hails, or something. Otherwise I like the day to day variations in our weather and the beautiful skies we get as a result.

But today - OMG! Now I understand what they mean by the wrong sort of snow. Wet and sloppy and slidey, even the dog seemed unenthusiastic about it.

Other half normally takes between 15 and 20 minutes to get to work - today it took two and a half hours. He's home now and, luckily, quite cheerful about it, though he keeps checking BBC Weather.
