Let him sleep, of course, but I might take his hand.
Another Tabi incident last night. She was on my lap while I was reading - glasses off because I didn't want anything between me and GRRM's deathless prose* - and we both saw a mouse trotting across the floor at the same moment. She leaped off my lap and went for it. I put my glasses on and so was able to see the expression on her face as she put the brakes on and went "OMG SPIDER!" I did too. Lumpen though I am I can still get all of myself onto the seat of my chair when there's a spider on the floor and especially when it's one big enough for me to spot without my glasses.
Sizz noticed it too and joined Tabi in following it all around the room at a respectful distance until Himself got irritated by all the activity and did the old mug and paper trick to take it outside - where I imagine it spent the night hunting rats.
Okay, it wasn't a big spider, body about the size of the top of my finger, legs *shudder* honestly I didn't look that closely. But to this self confessed arachnophobe it was the size of a saucer.
* figure of speech. I've never read any novelist, other than Sven Hassell, who kills SO many people. Martin is one of the people who make me want to stop storytelling because he's already said everything I'd like to say only so much better.
