HAPPY SOLSTICE!!

I'd have done that it great big colourful letters but I don't know the code. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy your shortest day and...ahem...your longest night.

And, just in case I don't get online again before Thursday,

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!

Over the next few days I will be frantically cleaning the house, defrosting things that require defrosting and generally failing to get into the Christmas Spirit - unless I manage the odd nip of gin. Christmas is for the kids - they wake up, open their pressies, eat until they can't move, play with their toys and then go to bed. If they have had a nice time then, I suppose, all the graft is worthwhile. At least, that's what we have to tell ourselves. Otherwise we'd probably just go to church, have a bit of a sing, then come home and do what we normally do...the ironing, watch the telly, go on the net etc.

Hmmm...maybe it's not so bad. Jenny and Laura have just decorated Michael like a tree and are making bad jokes about squirrels rushing up him in search of his nuts!

Happy Christmas anyway

We too are putting up a tree almost as I write: it's up in its stand, at least, and the box of decorations has been retrieved from the basement. The "children" (two aged twenty; one 22 and one 26)are clustered cosily around the dvd player with "X-Men 2" and I have just finished getting supper on to cook.

But I am OFF for two weeks !!! Happy holiday to ME!
Busily writing the epic, reading everyone else's LJs and ignoring mine. Someday....

Cheer up, the Christmas spirit is lurking everywhere. I got a card from a friend today that said "When else during the year can we sit around a dead tree in the living room eating candy out of our socks?"

I think I'll have that tattooed somewhere - it'll be my motto for the season!

I get off at lunchtime tomorrow and don't go back 'til Monday! I plan to write - and write - and write. We have a silly challenge on the [livejournal.com profile] hogwartsboudoir community where a whole bunch of us are 'going to Hogwarts' for a weeks holiday. Pure author insertion silliness, of course, but worth doing for all of that. I am determined to see Sirius sing 'Born To Be Wild' on the Karaoke Night! Wish me luck.

Yay, and a merry politicaly correct holiday season to you too. Or as I like to say, 'Solchristmakawanzanukkah'. I think I missed the agnostics in there, but I think I got everyone else. ;)

Put up the tree a little while back. After it arrived in the mail. I am now a firm beliver in fiberoptics. (goofy look)
