Jan. 6th, 2004 11:14 pmI've had a rather stressful day so I'm going to have a moan about it here. I feel bad for moaning - especially about the end of the day - but it's been bad.
First thing - Jenny went down with a tummy bug just after arriving at school so I had to ring in to work and say that I would be late and bring her home. I went into work, after settling her on the sofa with a drink etc, intending to do the necessary things then come home leaving my colleage, Yvette, to mind the desk.
Second thing - Yvette dragged herself into the museum absolutely green with pain and with sweat pouring down her face and a foot that was obviously, to my eyes, broken. She dropped a television on it yesterday. She hadn't been to have it X-rayed so I sent her off to hospital and rang Jenny and told her to go to her gran's and looked after the desk myself.
There followed a few hours of peace and quiet - during which I sent off some of my usual post Christmas cards etc - calm before the emotional storm.
So, I got home made dinner and was fiddling about online when a friend hailed me to tell me that a mutual friend's mother had just died. It had been expected, apparently, but I had no idea it would be so soon. Then, while we were having a mutual weep on his behalf, (because he's lovely and 36 seems to me to be absurdly young to lose your mum) I had to answer the phone and it was another friend ringing to tell me that her husband's father had just died and could I give her a lift to the nursing home.
Now I feel tired and miserable and I have two really good jokes to tell you but haven't really got the heart for it.
That's it - stopped moaning now!

Date: 2004-01-07 06:14 am (UTC)I'm so sorry you had such a rotten day :( Too disheartened for jokes! That's no good.
Hopefully, though, you've gotten your woe quota for the month out of the way in one shot and the rest of January will be just lovely. There is the Saturnalia, after all :D
Take good care of yourself <3
