You know one of the nice things about kids is the exciting things they bring you home from school. These vary according to age from salt dough monsters to reports to potential in-laws but the most recent exciting gift has been gastric flu.

This interesting little ailment combines all the pain and inconvenience of a very heavy head cold with the perils of projectile vomiting and ditto diarrhea.

In other news I weighed myself this morning and weigh nine stones five pounds - representing a weightloss of about 11 pounds since the last time I weighed myself.

If the 2 previous paragraphs are linked in some way one wonders how long it will be before they market the culture on the net as a slimmers aid.

Oh, ick. *hugs gingerly from a very long distance* I hope you are feeling much better soon! (And my da lost about 30 pounds when he had pneumonia fifteen years ago. I wouldn't recommend it as a weight-loss method, though!)

My kids brought home the same!! Ugh. On a happier note, I had drug-induced hepatitis about 10 years ago - lost 40 pounds AND turned a lovely shade of yellow! I'll take the flu any day. *passes tissues and antibacterial hand santizer!*

Kids are so generous aren't they. I feel it's my duty to get my own back by embarrassing them mildly at every opportunity.

Oh poor you, it sounds like you lot have had a rough time of it too. Now that I work in a school, I am amongst all kinds of germs and I guess until my body become more resiliant to the germs I will go down with everything.

This explains where you've been for the past few days, on YM-- I've missed you.

Kids here are dropping with it too-- I have made it a policy NEVER to touch them or their belongings, and to wash my hands every time I think of it. I sit and watch them filing in of a morning, dripping germs and sneezing on each other. Parents can't always keep them home-- can't afford to miss work-- so they come in sometimes with high fevers and all.

So far, touch wood, I am healthy. Or immune.

I wondered why I hadn't seen you around. *offers sympathy* Gastric flu is not something I've ever had, but I have had serious food poisoning and that was bad enough.

The trouble with these things affecting your weight is that it tends to be just water you lose, and as soon as you're well again, you re-gain the weight. A good one for more permanent weight loss is glandular fever. Does anyone know where I can catch it again?

Hope you're better soon. *hugs*

*Send huge bottle of Pepper-Up Potion*
Try Sambucol.
It really wards off evil spirits and is fairly close to natural stuff. It's basically elderberry juice, but seems to boost immune system where viruses are concerned.

Someone recommended Yin Chaio to me the other day, too.

Sorry, don't know any car fixing Potions.

Wishing you health and joy,
McG's Cat
