Whew, too much to do and therefore wasting time on net. Bad me.
Saw a live journal entry today obviously posted by fundamentalist Christian of Torqemadan zeal who deplores the current state of Hp fan fiction. Ah, well it takes all sorts and if he/she can castigate 'faggots'(his/her term not mine) so slashers and their ilk should be allowed to write what they like as well - assuming certain safeguards are taken - I don't feel that my daughter is ready at 10 to read graphic descriptions of any type of sex.
As to writing, Black Dog is almost finished. I don't know whether to be glad or sorry. It's the first long iece of work that I have ever posted publicly and I just know that some of the readers will feel let down by the denouement. Some, Kizzibee springs to mind, are expecting several pages of explicit explanations and they will be disappointed. If I explain everything I won't need to write Dogs of War and that one's preying on my mind - it'll be much better out than in.
Drawing - got to start on the "If you won't lead follow" pic for Kate. Also need to do a Ginny/Draco for Anise.
I think I ned to write a list.
RL sucks. The war...sigh. I hate propaganda. It's bad enough young men being killed without the govt trying to score points from it. Jingoism didn't die with the empire, unfortunately, and while I appreciate that 'our boys' are brave I'd be happier to see more balanced reporting in the media.

Hi. You don't know me from Adam, but I just want to say that I've been enjoying "Black Dog" tremendously for the past few months. Great portrayals of the canon characters, and a really engaging OC. And I feel no need for detailed explanations. I'm really glad to hear you'll be writing more.

Thank you so much!! I'm always surprised when people admit to having read it - most of my readers are people for whom I beta and I am very aware that the prose of the prologue and first chapter but a lot of people off (I was trying to write in a similar vein to Kenneth Graham and Henry Williamson - not to modern taste - and abandoned it when the plot began to pick up a bittowers of ).
There are two prequels in the offing. A short one re:werewolves called The Towers of Sadness and a much longer and nastier one called Dogs of War, which I might have to beg a place for in the Restricted Section, if they'll have it, which deals with the machinations necessary to bring Voldemort to his downfall. I can't see either being up very soon. BD has been a learning process for me and I've learned that I don't like posting chapters as they are complete. I normally write a whole fic - 15000 words or so - then rewrite and rewrite to bring it up to 40 or 50000. ToS possibly by Whitsun and DoW by Christmas - I hope.

I have to admit that I read the prologue when it was first posted and it did put me off; I didn't come back to the story until some months later, when I saw it recced on one of the mailing lists I'm on. Then I read seven or eight chapters at one sitting and became totally engrossed in the plot.

I'm greatly looking forward to the prequels, regardless of how long they take.

Yay! You've started Towers of Sadness! I know longstrider will be looking forward to it. I got him hooked on Black Dog quite some time ago, and occasionally taunt him by reading random sentences out of the new chapters. ^__^ He'll love "Writer's Block" too! ^_^
