Lordi won!!

*is gobsmacked, hilarious and yeah - hornfingers!!*

{this refers to the Eurovision Song Contest btw, so the icon explains my good humour}

In other belated news, let's all congratulate Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes on christening [or whatever Scientologists do] their baby, Suri. What do they do? Something very esoteric and significant I bet. Anyhow, Suri is a pretty name that, apparently, means 'princess' in Hebrew and 'red rose' in Persian and 'pickpocket' in Japanese.

What was it we said about that Terry Pratchett character Chlamydia earlier, whose parents thought it sounded good, and other unfortunately chosen names? There's a story in 'Freakonimics' about a girl that inadvertently got called Temptress instead of Temperance...

Lordi are found here, as you pointed me yesterday - just so the other readers of your journal can hornfinger merrily as well.

Who's Lordi? Apart from some Eurovision group, which I can work out from your post. ;)

*is totally out of the loop in a popular culture sort of a way*

There's a link in Yakalskovitch's comment.

Alternatively envision a reeeeeeaaaallly low budget zombie/mummy/monster movie made by a bunch of metal-head college kids with a soundtrack played on dustbins with starving leopards inside.

Though I'll admit that they rock my socks in a part appalled and part affectionate sort of way. Oh I'm so glad they didn't get 'null points'.

Oh my! She's throwing the horns! :P You and [livejournal.com profile] sermanya both with you strange Lordi obsessions...

I think the name speaks not only of their need for a better research team but also the Near/Far Eastern cultural divide. ;)

Re: the name. It could be a matter of historical precedent. Ever since Sir John Hawkwood's day there have been parts of Italy where the vernacular word for 'bandit' has been Inglesi.
