Jun. 2nd, 2006 06:51 pmSometimes life just does nice things for no particular reason.
This morning Jen was talking about The JCB Song and, perfectly coincidentally, as it came on the radio a HUGE yellow JCB pulled out in front of us and we followed it all through the A465 Heads of the Valleys road widening scheme at about 15 miles an hour.
The goldfish is still alive!! I felt sure it would have popped its clogs but it's swimming about like a good 'un.
Like all people who from time to time write things for other people to read, I worry about my spelling, grammar - all that kind of stuff. I suppose i must have been taught the correct forms at some time but it was so long ago I have no recollection of it - just like I have no recollection of learning to walk. But I do my best because there's always someone out there prepared to pull your legs off over a misplaced apostrophe. This gives me a sort of fellow-feeling with other less than perfect writers and I can honestly say that I have never had a good piece of fiction spoiled for me by the odd bit of clunky grammar or mis-spelled words. However, non-fiction is a bit different and I think that if someone is writing a critique of a novel the least they can do is get someone to proof read or, for pity's sake, use a spell checker! Hmmm, shall I name names? Naaah, not sure if he spelled it correctly.
