Yesterday was our 28th wedding anniversary and instead of cooking and eating a decent meal with a rather better bottle of wine and maybe hiring a DVD of one of the many excellent films we always miss in the theatres, we were summoned to act as gofers at an 'activity day' some friends wanted to put on for their friends. These are people to whom we have never developed the knack of saying 'no' so Snapeclone spent the day teaching people to shoot and I spent the day either restraining the dog from chasing arrows or from pouncing on the proper guests beautifully turned out casual sportswear or in the kitchen preparing a meal that, because of the dog, we couldn't eat with the guests. Jen was miserable because she was the only kid there. Mike, man that he is, when offered the option of coming and taking a turn collecting arrows and loading air guns, stroked his beard and invoked the 'Revision Clause' so missed out on the fun.

Next year, if invited to do something similar I think I will invoke the 'Grumpy Old Bitch Clause' and say 'not on your nelly'.

No matter, sweetheart. We only got married on the 5th because the 12th was fully booked. We can always pretend.

I was as much annoyed about the 'hop to it' tone of the summons as anything else.

Are you about and available today? If so maybe we could write something?

eh-- dates are just numbers and entirely dependent on which calendar you're using at the time. Go ahead and snag the 12th this year-- reserve it now and snarl at all distractions! You both deserve that rather nice bottle of wine and a good dvd! Farm out the children at someone else's house and let His Dogness relax under your feet.

I tend to have my birthday a week or so late most years; the rest of my family have dreadful memories. "Oh, dear-- last week was your birthday, wasn't it!? I'll run out RIGHT NOW and get you a gift...."

LOL, well you can understand my confusion. Jenny's got a poster of Brandon Ure, another really pretty boy, whom she adores. I just love the music because, and remember this is an old person speaking, I can hear all the words!! And such clever ones.
