Major internet upsets due to new server which, natch, doesn't work on my machine AND cocks up the normal connection! Oh well.
Read Camilla Bloom's new piece over at her LJ and think I need a lie down. Man's best friend indeed!
E mail from Kate today offering to lend me Gemini so that I can finish it quickly and we can argue about the content - now that's really dedicated fan! Of course I jumped at the chance. I'm going cold turkey since I finshed Caprice and Rondo. I wonder if I can introduce any of the HP girls to the delights of Lymond and Niccolo? But - on the other hand - how eager am I to see slash written about them? It would happen - I just know it would!! On a lighter note my sketch of Lymond and Slata Baba was given an honourable mention - probably something along the lines of "Why's that broad holding a chicken?"
Must do some more drawing (one for Steph, one for Cathy, lots for me)and finish part 2 of WTPP and part 2 of the Mattress.
Did a dubiously legitimate thing last night in watching a BAFTA committee copy of the Two Towers. Sigh. Went to bed emotionally drained from yelling "No, dammit, you can't ride cavalry onto a pike schiltron - it just isn't done - no I don't care if you've got ten wizards on your side - etc etc etc" Jenny went to sleep and snored all through the battle of Helm's Deep. Loved the story about how Peter Jackson got the stamping and chanting for the battle from the 30,000 strong audience of an England/New Zealand cricket game which he 'borrowed' and directed at half time. This film is beginning to grow on me - I wasn't so fussed at first - and I have had a fairly radical change of view about Legolas since I've seen how he can throw a punch!

Your story? Naah, I'm getting hardened but there's a limit to how long I can giggle before something gives. Besides I'm still traumatised from reading the Snape/Nafghul fic on Library of Moria (a place which contains amongst other things a fic called 'Haldir's House Of Hurt' where Haldir and Legolas set up a brothel specialising in BDSM, and a large collection of - um - fan art).

Fluffy orcs? Are you taking your medication? Though I thought Lurtz had great legs.

It might be morally dubious but if it's a genuine committee copy I can tell you that you are as legally white as the driven snow.

And the comment from the friend with whom I saw it for the second time at the weekend was "Personally, I'd have hesitations about walking down that slope".

That's an enormous relief!! To be legally anything is a comfort in this day and age - I've just had to veto a suggestion that I lead have-a-go-with-a-longbow sessions at the castle in case of litigation. I mean, nobody is likely to get shot but fingers get sore and arms get bruised - it goes with the sport - but do parents understand that? No they don't!
I agree with your friend, having taken a number of headers on much milder slopes but must confess to a sneaking desire to 'snowboard' down a flight of steps, shooting off arrows as I go. That's me - the fattest elf in the business!
