Weather/whether

Today is dull and rainy with a biting cold wind from the east. Yesterday and the day before was warm and sunny and springlike. I wonder whether, if it had been raining and cold all week, the husband of a friend might not have decided to ride his motorbike to work and so might be alive today.

Decisions. Casual decisions. Waking up in the morning and thinking 'hey let's do something different today'. Most of the time it makes no difference if it's sunny or cold, wet or dry. Life carries on regardless.

My condolences to your friend and to you.

I have lost many people I love in my life, including my parents and other family members. The seeming randomness and senselessness of some have made me adopt the belief that when your time is up--it's up. If it hadn't been a motorcycle accident, then it may have been something else. Not much of a comfort, I find, but it kind of gives me some explanation for the unexplainable.
