May. 2nd, 2008 08:01 amJust been listening to Radio 4 and was transported to hear an interview with our 'top man' in Basra where he implied that peace more or less depends on getting the sewage removal systems working again. That I heard his name as Major-General Barney White-Spanner put a big cherry on that little cake. Unfortunately his name is ACTUALLY Major General Barney White-Spunner which isn't nearly as amusing but it still a name that makes me murmur proudly 'Only in Britian'!
It's been a bugger of a week. I took leave to get into the spring cleaning, hoping to really clobber it until about 2 pm then grab some time to write in peace. Unfortunately, Monday morning I took 3 phone calls on work related stuff and had to go down to sort something out. Tuesday I had to take step-mum-in-law to hospital because she had a bad eye [not serious thank goodness]. Wednesday the dog got out and it took me an hour in the rain to catch him [there's a bitch - he feels he needs to do something about her, he's just not sure what] then I got called back into work again because nobody was available to sign the time sheets. Wednesday night Snape-clone threw a wobbler because he'd left a cheque on the floor and it had gone - DUH spring cleaning!!! - and made us empty the dustbins. We found it under the table.
Yesterday I went on strike and said I'll clean if THEY put their crap away, so the place is as crappy as it usually is and is unlikely to change in the near future AND I have various crises to deal with when I go back to work on Monday. *pants and reaches for the drugs*
However I have the weekend and I've made up my mind to reclaim my working space in the spare bedroom. I'm in a drawing mood and it's impossible on the main thoroughfare where people, chatting, casually put cups of coffee down on still damp watercolours or drop pipe ash on pen and ink drawings [snarky much?].
gonzothegreat the sycamores around the back of the castle have pupped and there are dozens of tiny saplings. Do you want me to post you a dozen to make a bonsai grove? If so, send me your address, love, I've lost my address book - must have 'tidied' it.
