Apr. 20th, 2003 11:31 pmIt's been a long holiday for me but I'm back into work tomorrow - deeply unfair when all the rest of the world can stay in bed in the morning.
Over the weekend I wrote my first ever fan fic of a fan fic! Just a little complicated. A small tribute to Anise's Jewel of the Harem that drew heavily upon the Golden Bough, sixteenth century ballads (cribbed from DD)and my own overheated imagination. It reads just a tad slashy but - what the heck. Cathy said she likes it so that's OK.
The end of Black Dog has been posted - Jondar is FAST - and I've had some reviews. Some like it but some feel that the story should have all its ends tucked in and nailed down. If I did that I wouldn't be able to write any more - by leaving loose ends there's a chance I can go back and fiddle with them later.
Now that I have finished reading the House of Niccolo books, I'm feeling quite bereft. I now need to read the Lymond books and I want Betty Ambler to give me Games of Kings back!! How long does it take her to read a book for goodness sake? She's had it month!! Oh well, I'll borrow a copy! I have a big problem brewing in that I'm now looking at DDs books as I look at the HP ones and plots for fanfics keep suggesting themselves. This is a road I don't particularly want to go down.
I've made a start on The Towers of Sadness:
They had been coming in for a week. Some on foot, some by train. In ones and twos, fews and couples, families and groups. Though there is another more appropriate collective noun, Harry told himself.
It's not much but it's a start.
