Just - argh!! Jen has lost her season ticket! No way of getting it renewed, I just have to buy another. Which means beans on toast for the rest of the month. Well not quite, I'm better organised food wise than that, but I wish Jen'd take care of things and understand that when I say we have NO disposable income I bloody well mean it. Am also annoyed with myself for having been stupid enough to try to get sympathetic support from someone because now I feel annoyed, upset AND unimportant.

Ah well, at least the Accelerator works. The eighteen billion they spent on that puts Jen's season ticket into perspective though it doesn't really help with replacing it.

/snivel - but DAMN i needed to grumble!

You grumble away hon, I would be cross too! Does she work or is she at college? If she works she should pay you back. If she doesn't then she should do extra chores to make up for it. We let our kids get away with too much, I know I did!!

She's 16 and has just started at 6th form college over the border in Hereford. From the text messages I've had she's aware that this has been a REALLY silly thing to do - she had to pay her own fare this morning because I only had 45p in my purse and that brought it home to her a bit.

Extra chores are definitely in the offing. And you're right they do get away with a lot, mostly because I'm lazy and often it's less effort [and less stressful] to do something myself than to enter into the long drawn out process of negotiation to get them to do it.

season ticket for what? Bus, theatre, what? Because that would influence, for me, how fast, or IF, it got replaced.

Whoa, you're up early! Train ticket so she can get to college and today she had to buy her own because I'm stony broke. I'll be up the station once I finish work today.

Grumble all you need sweetheart. Maybe it's brought it home a bit more when something like this happens there are consequences she sees. Hopefully this will be the last time it's lost.

To cap it off she was 2 hours late coming home and her phone was turned off.

Grounded for life, d'you reckon? Or shall we have her chipped?

Chipped! I seriously think, if we care enough about our pets to have them microchipped, we should do the same to our children!

GPS Tracking chips. Highly recommended! Particularly for a kid like mine who has a habit of running off at the drop of a hat and getting lost or just not coming back until he's damn good and ready, but which time I am utterly convinced (despite the very rare occurrence of same) that some paedo has him and I'll never see him again... *

There are times when he remembers to apologise afterwards, but, nothing takes away that fear.

*and for those who know me well, the prospect of all that peace and quiet, whilst attractive, still wouldn't make up for his loss, no.

Ugh teenagers. I'm not looking forward to my daughter becoming one. She's enough of a drama queen now as it is. I'd say make Jen replace it on her own but I know that's not an option.

There should be a place we can send teenagers to and they only come back once they're reasonable grown ups.

You could make her have to ride with someone in a car, making certain that they play music or talk shows that would make her head explode.

But earning the price of pass #2 is probably a better reality lesson.
