Okay, I know he's not one of the big guns but I'm sure he'd have got on very well with fellow Welshman Maewyn [later known as St Patrick] had they coincided. In any case, wear your leek with pride!

Happy St. David's Day to you! Never really celebrated St. David's Day back home (apart from the forced school stuff) but now I'm in Brighton, I feel oddly patriotic in regards to my adopted nation. Shame I can't buy any Welsh Cakes around here- I'll have to make them.

They are quite easy to do and you can cook them in a frying pan if it has a nice thick bottom.

Funnily enough distance doesn't seem to make people more Welsh. Unlike Irishness which seems more pronounced in people who have never a drop of irish blood in their veins.

Oh, that is why I bought a bunch of leeks yesterday! I thought I was going to cook them for veggies today, together with the carrots I still have...

I have often wondered why more attention is always paid to St. Patrick or St.George.
Happy St. Davids day to all my Welsh cousins

St Patrick's the one for the attention. Dunno what it's like where you are but over here one daren't wear a rose on St George's Day. Is his day being observed in England?

Not that I can see.
English daren't wear roses or put out the English flag on St.George's day in case we upset the immigrants. Go figure!

I take issue with the claiming of Patrick for Wales, that's a massively contested identification. :D

*giggles* yeah I know. It's just lovely to watch the wannabe-Irish flail at the mere suggestion that Patrick wasn't born peeing green.

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus, or words to that effect. I hope you had a good one.

I wore my daffs today with pride; one of the other choir members at rehearsal is Welsh by ancestry, and was wearing one as well. We put mine (longer-stemmed tete-a-tete) into a little vase on the mantlepiece during the rehearsal, and then I brought them home.

I sent my mother and sister a text saying "Dydd gwyl Dewi hapus!" and mum sent me one back asking who helped me to get it right! Sis just said "Diolch yn fawr"...

Yay for daffs. Those tete a tete ones are really delicate and pretty.

I hope you had a good day.
