May. 9th, 2003 12:52 pmOh, dear, I haven't been keeping up with this. Bad me.
I've got Original Spin going now and even have a few brave members. I'm hoping that they will have fun posting their bits and pieces. It would be jolly useful to have a place to experiment - where you could post and say 'look does this work or should I make him older/her fatter/turn it into a Western'! Joline and Bane have each read something of mine and been astonishingly kind about them. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to reciprocate.
The ladies of the museum came round last night for our regular, wine, food film session and we got very silly. LotR is God's gift to a group of broad minded females, all those wonderful men in tights and boy did we get bitchy about the tall thin women! Michael was in with us for a while but left rolling his eyes and accusing us of being childish. Paul had already retreated to the garden with Anna's husband and couple of bottles of soft red. They were very 'happy'bless them, when the film finished!
I had a great stroke of luck today and picked up a copy of Scales of Gold from Oxfam for £1.99! Kate says she might be able to get me a copy of To Lie With Lions second hand at a similar price which would be excellent as it seems to be out of print!
Kate and I have been having a little contest at writing an alternative scene for Game of Kings - the bit where Will follows Francis upstairs at the inn and appears to be fairly certain that he's about to be taken to bed. That's always been a scene that gets lots of attention - and no wonder - but is pretty much thrown away in the book. Our versions, and they are multiplying, are more forthcoming and, frankly, a bloody cheek but I'm having such fun I don't want to stop. Thank goodness that one is limited in what one can do with two young men on a flight of stairs in a public place!
