... and email the Home Office with me.

[livejournal.com profile] bigfluffball's LJ drew my attention to this - an account of a teenager due to be deported and likely to be hanged when he gets home as his boyfriend was!

The email address is public.enquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk and with any luck a million Brit bloggers will express their disgust at the very idea.

In other news No. 1 son has got a job at last and I really really hope it works out for him.

Oh my lord. That is just horrible. I can't even begin to say how horrible.

On a brighter note though - yay for Mike and his job!

Well, the Home Secretary has halted deportation and agreed to reconsider his case, and his MP is organising lawyers. So hopefully this disgusting matter will be cleared up.

If it is, it'll have a silver lining, at least - there's been a lot of publicity about this one. And he's not the only person in this situation.

I realise that discrimination becomes a problem here... Firstly as an Iranian he's automatically a terrorist (sarcasm people, it's sarcasm), but he's an ethnic minority with all sorts of rights, and gay to boot!

Still, I can't bear the thought of anyone having fought so hard to preserve his life and liberty being sent back to face the death penalty just for being who they are, so I emailed.

And, YAAAAY!!!! Mike getting a job is great news! Congratulations and <<>>

Oh that's good news. Fingers crossed he gets a good outcome, and sets a precedent for the future.

If it is any comfort, the story (at least in passing, not in depth) made the news in the USA. It would be better with some serious attention/promotion, but at least it was commented upon today.

I don't understand how Political Assylum could be denied. Sure, they have to feel confident that the background story is legitimate, but this really is a matter of life and death. At the very least what does it matter if they take much more time before really deciding. Is there any other country that could be a backup for the assylum if GB drops the ball? How can this person be saved?

Kudos to Mike!!!
(What's he doing? What's the job?)

All that I've heard is that his case is 'under review'. That could mean anything, but at least it doesn't sound as though he'll be deprted immediately.
