Come on Brits
Mar. 14th, 2008 08:30 am... and email the Home Office with me.
bigfluffball's LJ drew my attention to this - an account of a teenager due to be deported and likely to be hanged when he gets home as his boyfriend was!
The email address is public.enquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk and with any luck a million Brit bloggers will express their disgust at the very idea.
In other news No. 1 son has got a job at last and I really really hope it works out for him.

Date: 2008-03-14 02:18 pm (UTC)If it is, it'll have a silver lining, at least - there's been a lot of publicity about this one. And he's not the only person in this situation.

Date: 2008-03-14 06:46 pm (UTC)Still, I can't bear the thought of anyone having fought so hard to preserve his life and liberty being sent back to face the death penalty just for being who they are, so I emailed.
And, YAAAAY!!!! Mike getting a job is great news! Congratulations and <<>>

Date: 2008-03-15 02:30 am (UTC)I don't understand how Political Assylum could be denied. Sure, they have to feel confident that the background story is legitimate, but this really is a matter of life and death. At the very least what does it matter if they take much more time before really deciding. Is there any other country that could be a backup for the assylum if GB drops the ball? How can this person be saved?
Kudos to Mike!!!
(What's he doing? What's the job?)
